Research and training project in s’Albufera de Mallorca. September 2014
The Albufera de Mallorca Natural Park and TAIB are organizing an INTERNATIONAL FIELDWORK CAMP in applied ecology for wetlands and the training of new field scientists.
The field programme incorporates the following activities:
- Monitoring of fauna and flora indicator groups for hábitat quality (birds, terrapins, moths, butterflies and dragonflies, aquatic invertebrates and macrophytes);
- Investigation into the current status of shrews, recently detected in s’Albufera;
- Investigation of the diversity and ecology of Aculeates (bees and wasps) in the Park.
- Other activities including workshops on various subjects (environmental education, integrated coastal management, etc.), constant effort bird ringing, etc.
In every camp, four places are available for students (second cycle) and graduates in Biology, Environmental Science, Geography and allied subject along with others with an interest in wildlife conservation. Priority is give to applicants from the Balearics. Food and accommodation are included as part of the offer.
Knowledge of biology or physical geography and English is required to participate in the camp.
